The early retirement of US Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) has opened up an appointment opportunity for Governor Charlie Crist, himself a candidate for Martinez's seat. Crist will likely not appoint himself and a number of names are circulating for potential replacements. According to Politico, one person being considered is Jacksonville-area State Representative Jennifer Carroll. Carroll would be the first black female Republican Senator if she were selected. Carroll is a native of Trinidad and a retired US Navy officer. My current H1 is valid for 8 more months and I will have 1 more year after that to finish my initial 6 years, that gives me about 1 year 8 months before I exhaust the 6 year limit.
My question is if I change jobs and an H1 transfer is requested right now....will the transferrred H1 be valid for only 8 months ? or will I get a new I797 with 20 months validity? Help if some one knowledgeable about the issue would comment

Job starts August 2011 (cannot work remotely and not more than 1 month leave)
Name starts with a common Muslim name 'M-'
Parents frequently come to the US but I may need to travel to Pakistan for emergencies or perhaps to get married. Should I go to Pakistan or Canada for H-1b stamping or is too risky with the lengthy administrative processing (221-g)?

If we lose our job after having the I-485 pending for more than 8 months, I-140 approved, how much time do we have to find another job?
Do we have to immediately withdraw the petition after losing/quiting a job?

The advice i got is that you should be in a new job ( and notified USCIS about usage of AC21 ) before,
1. The I-485 is approved
2. Any RFE directed to the old employer
I don't think one needs to withdraw application.

Hi,
I filed for extension of H1B through my company A. I got notified today that my H1B filed was sponsored by sister company B. My GC was filed by Company A in July 2007 with PD of EB3 2004 December.
Would my GC process be impacted by this mess? Since GC process was started by company A, which would now be ex-company due to company B being new H1B sponsor. I am still on H1B.
Does it make sense to invoke AC21.
Please suggest.

Guys,
I had received FP notice 2 days ago and my FP date is after 3 weeks. I was getting ready to try to do it early but I just received Card Production Ordered email for both my spouse and myself. What do I do now? Do I need to still go for the FP after 3 weeks.
I am not sure why they would send me the FP notice if they wanted to approve my GC.

Though my employer is located in Kansas, we got TSC receipts and now when I extended my EAD, I got NSC's receipts...(heard it is lreatde to laod sharing among SC's)
BTW Is this a big deal in approving 485???

This is urgent, your response is appreciated. I am switching jobs and my new employer wants me to go to the UK for some training in a week for about 5 days. They are sending the H1-B transfer application in couple of days, so the transfer has not been done. The img. lawer said they will send the receipt notice to me in the UK and I could travel back with my previous H1-B visa from my previous employer. I am a citizen of India woking in the STEM field for the last 2 years. I am still working and my employment will last for about 1 more week.
QUESTIONS:
1. Please let me know you see any problems at immigration when coming back to the US?
2. Can the employer wait couple of more weeks before sending cancellation of my H1-B visa without paying me during that time?
3. If I take an unpaid leave durimg this time, will that help?
